HOW TO CLEAN CHROME RIMS

Are you keeping up with cleaning your chrome wheels often enough? Every time you drive, brake dust (which are small shavings of metal from your rotors) fly off and make contact with your wheels.

Chrome is all about the shine and if you want to keep them in pristine condition for many years to come, you’ll want to maintain them properly.

The key to a good clean is always good tools and good products. When trying to get the shine back on your chrome wheels, you’ll need the following items to get the job done:

What You’ll Need:

  1. High-pressure water hose

  2. Acid-Free Wheel Cleaner

  3. Long handle wheel brush

  4. Short handle wheel brush

  5. Microfiber towel

Applying Product:

To maximize the coverage of your solution, spray your Wheel Cleaner from about 4-5 inches away from the surface. Spray the product liberally around the wheels and inside the barrel. Allow 3-4 minutes for the wheel cleaner to soak but do not let it dry.

Scrubbing The Wheel: Use a long, flexible wheel brush to clean the inside barrel of the wheel. A lengthy brush will allow you to reach deep inside the barrel and scrub off dirt that’s hugging the inner barrel. Use your short handle soft bristle brush to scrub the wheel-facing side. When scrubbing the wheel-facing side, work your way from the outer edges and in towards the center of the wheel.

Final Touches: Spray your wheels clean using a high-pressure water hose. Chrome wheels are susceptible to water stains so if you’re washing your car after, be sure to hand dry them with a micro-cloth towel when finished. This will prevent those water stains that are a result of hard water build-up or mineral deposits.
